Soular Original Music Videos

WHO IS SOULAR?
Soular is a duo comprised of Craig Wolfe and Randy Deutch. Both Craig and Randy were members of the Kansas City 5-piece Amdahl Wolfe, a club band in the 1970's. Randy, bass player, convinced Craig, acoustic and electric guitars, in 2012 to reinvent our music as a duo. Soular mostly played together as a duo, using backing tracks for drums and other instruments. We also added other musicians for certain live performances and on our CD, "Take It Back." Soular began in Kansas City, but our families moved elsewhere, Randy to San Antonio, TX and Craig to Loveland, CO. Fortunately, technology allowed us to continue playing together remotely. We would practice via JamLink, just for the sake of loving to play. For our recordings, we would record ourselves separately, and trade tapes until our various songs were complete, and then edit them into the songs you hear today. Below are Music Videos based on several original Soular songs.

These videos reside on YouTube, so to see them in full screen, click on the square in the lower right corner as you would if on YouTube.

You Better Worry

Written in 2017 when Trump was first elected to lead the free world, we were very concerned about what his presidency would bring. With his run in 2024, we are now terrified by what he has stated he has in mind if elected. Music and lyrics by Craig Wolfe. Performed by Soular.

Please Take Your Devil

The music for this video was written in the 1970's. However, it turns out that "Please Take Your Devil" was a premonition of the what we currently experience daily in the seemingly never ending story of Donald Trump. The "singer" has been a follower of Trump, but has finally seen the light and is making his way to be free from Trump's grasp and influence.

Hang My Head Down

The song "Hang My Head Down" is in our future. It imagines that we have lost the major battles we have been fighting for... Democracy, climate change, and our freedoms. We have obeyed the tyrants' directives. We must hang our heads in shame.

Hope of Man

Our species is not doing a very good job of flying our planet. It is our nature to pursue and dominate other species, as well as those of our own species.... a natural habit of many species on our planet. But this habit may result in taking down not only ourselves, but many other species. Our technology is also progressing much faster than our spirituality. Our capacity to manage ourselves, in the end, may not be capable of avoiding the catestrophies that await us. So, where lies the "Hope of Man?"
Music by Bryson Innis. Lyrics by Craig Wolfe

Joanna

Nothing brings the future squarely in front of you like a grandchild. “Joanna” is for my granddaughter. As I ponder what world we will have left her, I worry of her struggles she will face. What should we tell her now? Do we remain silent and hope for the best?

Take It Back

Take It Back is the title song to Soular's CD released in 2013. Its message is to take back the power from those who have used and abused their own use of power. We worked hard to have it ready for the Concert for the Climate presented by the Heartland Renewable Energy Society. At the time, I was serving as president of HRES.

The Last Journal Entry of Angela Summers

It is the year 2076. Climate change proved to be real. Humans acted, but acted far too late. Humans and species on the planet struggle to survive. Angela Christina Summers, 78 and near the end, is fulled with remembering, sorrow, and regret. Music and lyrics by Craig Wolfe. Performed by Soular.

Stand Up

A call for all of us to get off our butts and do something to lessen the impact of climate change. We have not grasped how devastating to civilization and nature the effects of climate change will be. Our children and grandchildren will live in a chaotic world with inadequate resources and security... a nightmare future. Music and lyrics by Craig Wolfe. Performed by Soular.

Solar Prayer (long version)

We had just recorded our new CD Take It Back and used the sound from that CD to update this video. Solar Prayer is a song of gratitude to the Sun that portrays the mysteries of the Universe and implies the elegant simplicity of the American Indians' understanding and belief that the Sun is the source of all. The mystery and enormity of the Universe and the magic of our miniscule blue ball leaves me in awe. Music written by Craig Wolfe and performed by Soular.

Solar Prayer (short version)

See above for the description, without the video depiction of traveling through our galaxy. This is the shortened version of the song above, without the long intro of traveling through our solar system. We just recorded our new CD Take It Back and used the sound from that CD to update this video. A song to the Sun, giver of all life on Earth. This version without the long intro. Music written by Craig Wolfe and performed by Soular.

Book Of The Heart

Our planet seems to be increasingly falling into chaos.  A very simple, yet difficult way to find our way from darkness to the light is to change our Hearts.  This song imagines that each of us heeds this task.

Who Are You?

A song to a friend who is strong, but also waivers in her strength.
